INFORMATION FOR STALLHOLDERS/EXHIBITORS Now in its third year, Canterbury Climate & Fair Trade Market is an opportunity to demonstrate the positive effects of the transition to a low-carbon economy. The organisers welcome applications from organisations with a positive environmental message.
When and where? The third Canterbury Climate & Fair Trade Market takes place on Saturday 12th May 2012. The location is a 100 metre stretch of pedestrianised shopping street, St George's St/The Parade in the city of Canterbury. Canterbury is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom. Average visitor numbers to St George's St in May are in the region of 40,000 people over the course of the weekend.  | This is the North boundary of Canterbury Climate & Fair Trade Market site, looking South | Who may attend? - Environmental campaigns and NGOs who are concerned with climate change;
- Ethical traders whose produce is sourced and marketed in a sustainable way (preference will be given to local organisations in the first instance);
- Street entertainers;
- Exhibitors whose products demonstrate commitment to the development of a low-carbon economy.

The aims of the Fair are to raise awareness of the dangers of climate change, to demonstrate the benefits of sustainable development and to recruit members to our respective causes. | This is at the Northern end of the Canterbury Climate & Fair Trade Market site, looking North. | What are the stall/display restrictions? - There is no set size for stalls, that will depend on what you propose and how many organisations are attending but you should assume that they are of 'market stall' size.
- You can sell eco-friendly merchandise, such as Fairtrade, recycled, organic etc.
- We will have a licence to raise funds for our collective organisations, through raffles, competitions and collections. Please let us know if you want to use other methods of fund-raising.
- We are requested that our activities should not be overtly political, which means that you should not canvass on behalf of a political party.
- Your stall/display must be set up for the whole day, not just for a few hours.
- Fundraising activities, merchandising and campaigning - or dressing up as polar bears and playing good-humoured stunts - are all acceptable.
- Fair times will be from 9-5 on Saturday 12th May 2012. Set-up time 6am.
- We will have a small number of stall umbrellas to protect us from the elements, at a cost of £15, but if you have your own street tent or gazebo you should make use of that. Remember that this is an outdoor event.
- We are unable to provide any furniture so stallholders must provide tables, chairs, display boards etc. An electricity supply is provided by the City (£15 per day). Exhibitors who have unusually heavy electricity needs should inform us as soon as possible.
- We insist that stallholders/exhibitors are willing to display educational material about climate change (which is likely to take the form of a ‘Stop Climate Chaos’ poster or similar).
- We must clear the street at the end of the day - you must clear your stalls and help Greenpeace to collect litter, whether it's ours or not. The site must be spotless after we've left.
What is the charge? There is no charge for exhibitors. What happens next? If you want to participate in the Canterbury Climate & Fair Trade Market please email a brief description of who you are, what your stall might look like and dimensions, with details of your proposed merchandise, fundraisers, displays, exhibitions, campaigns etc. Disclaimer. Final layout and design of the Climate & Fair Trade Market site will be determined by the organisers. The organisers are Canterbury & District Greenpeace, Fair Trade and Canterbury City Council. The organisers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
